Vocational Objectives
The Phlebotomy program is designed to prepare the students for employment as phlebotomy technicians. Graduates work as phlebotomists in reference laboratories, hospitals, blood bank, private phlebotomy services, and doctor’s offices, for sports medicine facilities, insurance companies, and clinics. Graduates will have knowledge in the following areas:

· Patient Preps for Various Laboratory Specimens
· Legal Implications of Phlebotomy
· Isolation Techniques
· Specimen Processing Procedures
· Medical Terminology and Abbreviations Relating to Phlebotomy and
  Clinical Laboratory
· Information Pertaining to Charting
· Glucose Tolerance Testing
· Blood Cultures and Viral Studies
· Anticoagulants and Additives
· Proper Sites for Venipuncture and Capillary Sticks
· Computers
